About Our Sports & Social Club
Our friendly club in Market Harborough caters for cricket, squash, racketball, padel tennis, table tennis & pétanque. We have an active Club Calendar with regular social & sporting events to help you get involved & meet other members of the club.
Never tried glow in the dark padel? Nows your chance! There are also weekly mix-ins for Squash, Racketball & Padel and league / club nights. We have squash teams in Leicestershire and Northants County Leagues and vibrant junior sections providing coaching for juniors from the age of 5 years upwards.
Our very own social club is the perfect area to relax after a game and serves food and beverages.
We have a range of monthly memberships to suit both individuals, couples, families and those that prefer to play on a less frequent basis.
Play Squash & Racketball
The club was founded in 1974 and continues to thrive with around 340 members. In 2009 we were awarded England Squash and Racketball Silver Charter Mark showing our commitment to developing the sports and our club. 2015 marked a significant landmark in the Clubs history when we opened £340k extension with two new glass backed courts.
We have squash teams playing in the Leicestershire Leagues, the Northants leagues and the Leicestershire ladies leagues.
We run internal leagues in squash, racketball and padel plus club competitions but also many members just play friendlies.
Whatever level of squash or racketball you play, we’d love to have you come and join us!
Play Padel Tennis
Padel is a rapidly growing sport across Europe, it is played on an enclosed court about a third of the size of a tennis court. The rules are the same as tennis, played with similar balls, although serving is under-hand and the walls are used as part of the game – making it a bit like squash as well!
It is great for all ages and caters to all levels of play. With limited racket skills players can quickly engage in dynamic and fun rallies, utilising the court’s surroundings. Padel is always played in doubles, which makes it a very social activity and therefore ideal for the entire family.
The Market Harborough Padel Club formed in 2020. We are really excited to be developing this new sport and would like to thank Harborough District Council and The Market Harborough and The Bowdens Charity for grants towards the two courts.
Play Cricket
Market Harborough Cricket Club was formed in 1840. Its ground is recognised as one of the best settings and playing surfaces in the County and over the years has hosted County second XI games and league Cup Finals. We also have 4 cricket nets for practise sessions.
The Club currently has two senior teams in the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket League. Matches are played on Saturdays throughout the season with training held midweek. Training is open to absolutely everyone no matter what the standard; please feel free to get in touch if you would like to come along to a training session.
Our thriving junior section provides coaching from ages 5 and above. Our award winning All Stars programme provides an introduction to cricket for 5-8 year olds and normally a sunny evening for parents to enjoy the on site bar. Our Kwik cricket sessions provide coaching for 8-11 year olds who are ready to take their skills to the next level. All coaches are ECB qualified and are committed to creating a really fun environment.
The next step on our junior pathway is to enter our age group sessions (Under 11’s, Under 13’s and Under 15’s). All sessions are run by qualified coaches and we play competitive matches throughout the summer within the Leicestershire and Rutland junior cricket leagues.
We are always looking for new players, both in the Senior and Junior sides so please contact us if you are interested in playing for us or if you just want to get involved in the social aspect of the club
